Mean Wiener Recording Day 2

07.30.09

So we just wrapped up day two of our recording. We laid down drums for 11 tracks. So far we’ve got radar, heatsneaker, ready, curses, rumormill, maybe, cocoon, moped, girl next door, and hawkman. Five more songs and we’ve got us a  full-blown 2 disc rock opera.

Jay did a fantastic job. The pressure was all on him and he came through with flying colors. Unfortunately, we were fresh out of gold stars to award him so we just gave him the next best thing, a Miller High Life.

We can’t thank the gang from The Thirsties enough. Ken did an outstanding job of keeping our noses to the grindstone. William, Josh and C-Diddy made sure we were well-hydrated and encouraged us to perform beyond our abilities.

As we get some rough mixes put together later on in the month we’ll try to post them up. Up next, everything else. Guitars, bass, and vocals.

Mean Wiener Recording Day 1

07.29.09

Just got in from our first day of recording. So far so good. We haven’t actually recorded anything yet but we’re close to having things set up.

William Stewart and Ken DuBard from The Thirsties are helping us out. They plan on trying out the Glyn Johns drum mic technique. We’re glad to have them help.

Our plan is to do drums first then go back in and do the guitars, bass and vocals. We’re hoping to do as many of our new songs and some old ones that were never recorded.

I’m planning to post up some more of our other music later this week or weekend in the downloads section.

We aren’t sure if we’ll press CDs or just do some kind or Radiohead download thingy. Feel free to send us your suggestions.

That’s all for now. We’ll let you know how tomorrow night goes.
